Coupons
Coupons should contain company name, one clear discount offer, phone number and an expiration date no later than one year from the release date. NEW! ALL COUPONS ARE IN PROCESS COLOR!, no screens, no reverses please.
Color
All Directories are printed in process color. Ads can be sold as 1 or 2 spot colors or as process color. Spot colors are created at the printer as blends of CMYK. Any color beyond the specified red (PMS 185), blue (PMS 300), green (PMS 340), orange (PMS 144), purple (PMS 267) or yellow are to be sold as process color (Custom matching).
Prime Pages
The inside front and inside back cover and Prime-Page ads are full pages and are to use process color for all directories. Color separations and a color proof must be supplied for ads delivered as Camera-Ready artwork.
Back Cover
The Back Cover is 4-color process. It is the same size as a full page and is surrounded by black. The printer prints the cover at 150 lines per inch (lpi) Electronic files (photos should be scanned at 300 dpi). A color proof is required.
Camera-Ready Art
Camera-Ready ads must meet the above criteria for size, color specifications, screen rulings, etc. Ads that include color must have color elements separated on an overlay, one overlay for each color. A color proof should also be provided. Requests for changes to current or previous yearís camera-ready ads will be rejected by the design department. This is the responsibility of the agency that provided the artwork. (see Agencies)
Electronic Ad Delivery
Some clients or agencies would prefer to deliver their ads as a computer file. To do this they must be compatible with our computer system. CRA can be delivered on a 3.5” floppy disc, a Zip disc or CD in a Mac format. Contact your Sales Representative about delivering electronic files via e-mail. Ads are to be prepared in Quark Xpress 5.0 or less, Adobe Illustrator 10 or less and Adobe Photoshop 5.5 or less. (Photos scanned for anything other than the back cover should be 200 dpi) Artwork can also be in a PDF format. Patuxent Directories cannot be expected to match every font (typeface) that a client or agency might use in an ad so they should enclose or embed fonts on their disc or be prepared to do so upon request. The design department will make every effort to accommodate, but respectively retains the right to reject discs that do not meet the above criteria. As with other media, a proof is required.
Agencies
It is Patuxent Directories’ policy to pay agency commissions to recognized advertising agencies only. The following criteria must be met to qualify:
- Advertising space is contracted through the agency.
- Ad(s) are to be submitted camera-ready to meet Patuxent Directories’ publication specifications in the form of a velox print. (or in electronic form – see EAD spec’s) Accuracy is the responsibility of the agency. A proof will not be generated for either the agency or the advertiser.
- Payment is the responsibility of the agency.
- The agency should handle a minimum of three clients, and must provide proof of those clients.
- An agency must be a separate company, not a graphic/production department within a company.
